About
When I was in elementary school my parents surprised us with a new computer and with it a subscription to AOL. As I slowly got to spend time playing around with the Internet I started to wonder how web sites were created. I ended up asking my Dad one day how they were made, he said he had no idea. At that point I developed a strong passion to learn just that.
Midway through high school I took my passion for web design to the next level when I started to do web design work for real clients. In between my Junior and Senior year of high school I got my first internship working at a small print shop called Folio, Inc. I took their print designs and translated them into web sites. Until I got into college, my main focus was on design and user experience work. Shortly after my freshman year of college though, I moved more into a developer role when I started using PHP and MySQL.
Today I love working on any type of web project, be it a simple static web page or a rich Internet application. I believe that the goals for a project should be the main focus and I base all my decisions around them. The project goals completely influence my decision in design choices and what technologies to use. With every project I always strive to keep my HTML as semantic as possible and keep true to core coding philosophies such as DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself).
I currently freelance mainly with Sanders New Media doing almost 100% web development. I have been involved in all sorts of different projects and using different skills such as Lunix server administrator, building command-line python and ruby script and for the most part web development using a variety of frameworks.
